Traditional metal braces work using three different components. Individual metal brackets are fitted to the front surface of your teeth. A thin metal wire, known as an archwire is then threaded through these brackets. One archwire connects the top brackets, another archwire connects the lower. Elastics are then fitted over the brackets to exert gentle pressure. It is this pressure that helps the braces move your teeth into the desired position.
